Scor

Since the club was founded a large emphasis has been placed each year on participating in Scor and Sor na nOg competitions. This dedication to these competitions has certainly paid off for the club and its members with many honours won in the last 21 years and more importantly a lot of craic and enjoyment being had by all involved. Scor Novelty Act PhotoThe club has won county titles in almost all of the individual competitons and has also scooped Leinster and All-Ireland honours along the way.The first to achieve provincial and All-Ireland glory were Camillus Hiney & and David Paul Sheridan who won national title in the Instrumental Music section of Scor na nOg in 1980. In 1987 Tanya Dunne scooped All-Ireland glory in the Scor na nOg recitation. While the club has not yet achieved All-Ireland Success at senior Scor level we have come close on a couple of occasions. The novelty act group pictured here contested the All-Ireland final in 1994 (Clockwise from top left:Joe Lowry;James Farrell;Patrick Egan;John Moran;Andy Sheridan;Declan Fox;Carmel Fox;Gerry North;Declan Fielding) and in 1990 Andy Sheridan was defeated at the final hurdle in the recitation section. In 1997 our set dancers won the county title and as county cahampions qualified to dance in front of a packed Croke Park on All-Ireland final day in 1998 when Offaly defeated Klkenny
(see photo). Scor Dancing GroupScor and Scor na nog have brought great successes and great times to our club and it is hoped wil do so for many years to come. The future certainly looks bright as these two photos of recent Set Dancing and Ballad Group entries show.

Social News

This year has been a busy one from a social point of view with the "Cat" (our local pub) re-opening at the end of last year and the club celebrating its 21st anniversary. The later event was celebrated in fine style with a barbeque held at the club grounds in June. Great credit must go to the organising committee pictured below for an excellent evening befitting such a great occasion. 21st Anniversary Committee
The other major event undertaken by the club's social committee this year was a trip to the Canary Islands in September. Reports are that good fun was had by all who travelled.(pictures later if possible)
